On May 2, 2015, Brian was living and coaching in Nashville and Sidney was living in New Orleans but visiting Nashville for a family wedding.

After the wedding, Sidney and her cousins went to their favorite bar in Midtown, Winner's, where they toasted the newly wed Melissa and Dave and clinked glasses for their Uncle's 50th birthday.

Brian was also out in Midtown that night watching the Mayweather v. Pacquiao fight with friends. The fight ended, but Brian had just gotten back from the bar with two beers to find that his friends were ready to go. Undeterred, he stuck the two beers into his pockets and made his way to a new place he had been wanting to try -- Winner's.

Sidney was outside talking to her cousin when she turned around to go back inside and ran smack dab into Brian.

Brian said, "Hey."

Sidney said, "Hey."

There was a long pause.

Sidney announced that she was going to the bar to grab a couple of beers when, lo and behold, Brian pulled two beers out of his pocket.

"Are you a magician?" Sidney asked.

"I can be if you want me to be," Brian answered.

After that night they kept in touch for years seeing each other whenever time and distance allowed. In 2019, they decided that life was better when they were together. Since then they’ve lived in Jackson, Mississippi, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and currently reside in Sycamore, Illinois.
